Parameswaran presents at virtual conference on teaching the global economy

Herman B Wells Endowed Professor (Class of 1950) Radhika Parameswaran presented at the International Studies Consortium of Georgia/IU Center for International Business Education and Research virtual conference on teaching the global economy on Sept. 12. Attended by over 70 faculty members from colleges and universities across the U.S., the conference featured experts who discussed linking business, society, and culture through real-world case studies and practical, classroom-ready tools for educators.
During Parameswaran’s presentation, “Teaching the Globalization of Media: Cross-Cultural Flows of Images, Information, and Ideologies,” she explained why faculty should include media globalization in their pedagogy, emphasizing that while students, especially undergraduates, are deeply immersed in media, they often lack awareness of its influence. She highlighted how media saturation – through music, films, video games, and more – is typically relegated to leisure yet can be turned into powerful forms of education.
